Why not use Fabric Bags?

Hi Friends, Internet connectivity was removed from my office guest house - so couldn't spend time in blogger. Also busy days with loads of work ;o)
Anyways – Just came across an interesting article on paper bags... thought to share with you people.

Many prefer paper bags as opposed to plastic, and believe that they are already having a clear eco-conscience.
Unfortunately they could not be further from the truth.
Studies by the “Society of Plastics Industry”, show that manufacturing a paper shopping bag uses more than four times the amount of energy as is used in the manufacture of plastic bags and when it comes to recycling, it takes nearly 100 times the energy to recycle paper as it does plastic. So it’s pretty clear that paper bags are not energy efficient.
However it doesn’t stop there, most paper comes from tree pulp and most of it still ends up in landfill, where because of the lack of oxygen it takes decades to decay and all of the many chemicals used in its manufacture leach out into the water table.

Millions of trees are cut down every year just to produce paper, trees that would otherwise be soaking up the Carbon Dioxide that we are emitting, from making and recycling Paper bags… there is something wrong with this equation.
Wouldn’t it be simpler to buy an attractive and durable fabric bag and use it again and again?

Something’s Change, Everything Rearranged…

After all my efforts to prove my stance that we are heading wrong in business, I was forced to arrange something. Later they realized their mistake and made a small change, but… it’s a great pain for me to rearrange…

Something’s Change, Everything Rearranged…
Outcome of poor groundwork...
Certainly when you are under a poor leader... You not only mess your work, you will mess yourself.

Villu - Extreme Hardwork for audience

Happy Pongal to everyone!!! Let the Month of 'Thai-The Harvest Month' bring lots of good luck and success all the way...

Well this year Pongal was not much of fun as I was in office to give support for a (so called) critical project...: P who cares... Anyways I never wanted to miss the Pongal special COMEDY show at 10:00PM.. The Program name - "VILLU (Tamil word meaning Bow)"... live program with the Villu movie team - Hero - Vijay, Heroine - Nayantara and the director - Prabhu deva.. People can dial and share their thoughts/questions with the team [:P]. Came running from office and Now I am watching the program.. Though few of my friends who watched the movie rated it very very poor, people sharing their views in the show are boasting and praising the hero a lot… Too much build up, too much Hype. Everything exaggerated. Actually he is good for nothing, all his movies carries no message except crap dialogues, meaningless songs and illogical storyline. One lady commented "WoW.. the movie has come out soooo well, I am really happy! I am overwhelmed, proud of Tamil Film Industry for such a quality movie; I can understand the amount of HARDWORK the team has put to give such a quality film... I appreciate all your HARDWORK, HARDWORK, HARDWORK..." This particular word triggered me to write this blog and right now I am intermittently updating the blog and watching the program. You must have got a chance to see a quotation like the one in picture.

Yes it’s a famous quote by Edgar Bergen...

Well the team has done tremendous HARDWORK , so even the audience will find it really hard to watch the movie!!! Yes watching the movie will be an extreme mental hardwork, as I am really finding it hard to see this live program.

Come on Guys! Take a chance!
Villu - Diwalu [:p]- Bow without Arrow... Useless.. Hopeless[:p]

5 Simple steps to Mental Well-Being

A simple programme to promote mental well being has been compiled by a team of more than 400 scientists. Here’s what they think…

Get Connnected:

Relationships with family, friends, colleagues and neighbors will enrich your life and bring you support. Human interaction is vital to our happiness and sense of belongings. Studies show that one of the most significant factors in poor mental health is isolation. Good friends will help you get through the bad times.

Be Active:

Sports, hobbies such as gardening or dancing or just a daily stroll will make you feel good. That’s because exercise stimulates feel-good chemicals called endorphins, which can give you an eight-hour high. Regular physical activity has been clinically proven to alleviate depression and anxiety and may even prevent problems in the first place.

Pay Attention:

Noting the beauty of everyday moments and reflecting on them helps you to appreciate what matters to you. Making an effort to stand still and take notice can help us savor moments we might miss. It encourages us to live in the present instead of dwelling on past events we can’t change or future ones which may not even happen.

Brush Up Your Skills:

Fixing a bike, cooking, learning to play an instrument – the challenge and satisfaction brings fun and confidence. Keeping your mind occupied with a constructive task is an excellent way to be happy. When you are absorbed in a rewarding activity, it focuses your mind away from negative thoughts and gives you a real sense of purpose and achievement.

Be Generous:

Helping friends and strangers links your happiness to a wider community and is very rewarding. It’s true that giving is as good as receiving. A study scanning people who donated to a favorite charity found that giving stimulates the brain’s reward system just like receiving does.

My Soruce of Inspiration: TNT for the Brain: Auvaiyar's Aathichoodi

One Universal Law: Simplicity always wins. By considering universally acceptable values in just one line, Auvaiyar brevity succeeded in making them stay in memory for the rest of one's life... "Aathichoodi"...

Her epigrammatic poetry was handed down orally for over two millennia. In that she articulates codes of conduct for living in peace and life in general. Her poetry received a new lease of life when Bharathiyar followed her style in his Puthiya Aathichoodi, a perfect example of continuity in tradition and a returning to the replenished spring. This is offered in the same spirit.

It's always a source of inspiration to me. Yes, it's the TNT for my Brain. Here it goes...

Achcham thavir, Naiya pudai
(Rid yourself of fear, Strike hard (the evil/obstacle))

Maanam poatru, Routhiram palagu
(Cherish honour, Learn righteous indignation)

Aanmai thavarael, Kedilum thuninthu nil
(Do not lose your manliness, Stand firm in ruin)

Keduppathu sorvu, Thiyoarku anjeal
(Fatigue spoils, Be not afraid of evil)

Oythal oli, Naer padap paesu
(Do not flag, Talk straight)

Thaalndhu nadavael, Mikaipada solael
(Don’t lose your Dignity, Don't over dramatize)

Kaalam aliyeal, Keelorkku anjeal
(Do not waste time, Be not afraid of what is base)

Por tholil palagu, Tholviyil kalangael
(Learn the art of warfare , Do not become upset by defeat)

Pudhiyana virumbu, Veeriyam perukku
(Welcome progress, Increase virility)

Pedhamai Akatru, Unmaikku anjael
(Eradicate ignorance, Don’t fear for truth)

Vedipara paesu, Nandru karudhu
(Speak with clear articulation, Always think good)

Vavvudhal neekku, Thavaththinai nirappu nee
(Avoid covetousness, Practise penance daily)

Katradhu olugu, Kaitholil potru
(Practise what you have learned, Cherish manual work)

Saerkay ariyea, Paeigalukku anjeal
(Know whom you associate, Have no fear of ghosts )

Maanam potru, Mandhiram valimai
(Cherish honour , Mantra is potency)

Vallamai pasael, Naal ellam venai sei
(Dont self-praise, Strive all day long)

Ramarajan Returns: Medhai – Will it be a mega comedy project of 2009???

Speechless!! Stunned! Awestruck! I have no other words and couldn’t digest after hearing the breaking news… Yes our yesterdays village hero, identified by his traditional trademark trouser, milking cow with his folk lure, is back with a bang in a brand new film… yes with a LAPTOP !!! But more than that, I could not believe the Tamil film board which allowed naming the film “medhai”, literally meaning GENIUS.

Is the story about the transformation of a village milk man to a Computer Genius or a Managing Director of IT Company…? May be a next competitor to Microsoft or Google? A mega Business man doing Cow business in e-bay??? Or Launching a WEB11.11 site Cow-Bay??? [Yaru, kon hai, yarunga boss yaru...who???] His favourite yellow shirt and green pant had faded to white??? What’s the secret behind his white and white attire? IT Minister? Oh my God !!!

Anyways next years comedy hit is getting ready. Hats off to the Producer who had budget to get a LAPTOP(The main attraction, will be the talk of 2009) apart from LIPSTICKS and a big heart to fund for this comedy project… The comedy track is right set from the film title to the initial promo wallpaper. Friends lets wait till it rocks the screens.

[Serious Note: By seeing the picture you should not relate to stock market crash, the sudden fall in economy, the market slump, major downfall in IT industries…]

Absolute Bliss!!!

August 23 2008! This is the day I can never forget. Landed in Swiss! I was always fascinated by this five letters S.W.I.S.S… Lovely name and since my school days I had a long desire if I will ever get a chance to kiss her. When I was in school, I liked one subject “Geography” all because of one lady, my School Principal, Ms. Prasanna Radha Krishnan. She found the interest I had in the subject and encouraged a lot. Places and People are the hit list in my curio. I always had a passion for sweet sounding places, to name a few, Darjeeling, Alps, London, Simla, Ooty, lovedale…

When you feel you are in a place which you had admired, loved, meditated, fascinated and thought about for years there is no way to express your happiness and joy. A dream come true, its Absolute Bliss. Now the point is how to make it an everlasting memory??? Well the answer is a simple Click! A photo that will express your likeliness towards the place and here you see one of the shots of beautiful Swiss, taken in my Canon A630. You will love it!!!
